Mama Diary ("we", "us", "the app") is a private journal for parents to record memories of their child. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app handles and what we do — and do not do — with it.
We have written this policy so a parent reading it at midnight can understand it. If anything here is unclear, write to smewritingagency@gmail.com and we will fix the wording.
Mama Diary stores the following on your device, in a local SQLite database and the device's app-private file storage:
All of the above is content you create. We do not generate, inspect, or transmit it.
We do not collect or transmit:
There are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
The Android permissions Mama Diary requests are used only for the feature you trigger them for, on your device:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Capture a photo or video memory. Only when you tap "camera." |
| Microphone | Record a voice memo. Only when you tap "record." |
| Photos / Videos | Import an existing photo or video into a memory. Only when you tap "pick from gallery." |
| Notifications | Remind you about milestones and backup status, if you opt in. |
| Network access | Required for Google Drive backup, only if you turn it on. |
We never use any of these permissions in the background to collect data silently.
If — and only if — you sign in with Google and enable backup:
appDataFolder — a hidden folder that only Mama Diary can access, even from other apps on your Google account. Other apps and other people cannot read it.drive.appdata. We do not request access to the rest of your Drive, your contacts, your Gmail, your calendar, or any other Google service. We do not see, copy, index, or analyze the contents of your Drive backups. They are between you and Google.
We do not share your data with anyone. There is no advertising network, analytics partner, or data broker involved. We do not sell or rent any information about you — there is nothing for us to sell.
Mama Diary is designed for parents and caregivers. The app is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
The child profile data you enter (your child's name and birth date) is created by you, on your device, and stays there. It is not a "user account" for the child.
Because your data lives on your device:
When you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is removed by Android. We retain nothing on our side because there is no "our side."
Mama Diary does not transfer your data internationally because Mama Diary does not transfer your data at all. If you use Google Drive backup, your data is stored according to Google's terms, in the regions Google operates.
Because we do not collect or process your personal data on our servers, the rights typically granted by GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws — access, correction, deletion, portability — are exercised directly in the app:
If you live in a jurisdiction that nonetheless requires us to confirm in writing that we hold no personal data about you, email smewritingagency@gmail.com and we will reply.
If we change this policy in a way that affects what data is handled or how, we will:
We will never quietly start collecting data that we previously said we would not collect.
A real person reads every message.
